We offer innovative ways to reduce stress in the workplace through our health and wellness workshops. The focus on this website is on prevention and education. It is not on the treatment of diabetes. If you have diabetes you must consult your health care professional.

Exercise

If you have  type 2 diabetes you have too much glucose in your blood, either because your body is not producing enough insulin to process it, or because your body doesn’t use insulin properly (insulin resistant). But when you are exercising, your muscles can use glucose without insulin. In other words, it doesn’t matter if you are insulin resistant or if you don’t have enough insulin, when you exercise, your muscles get the glucose they need, and in turn, your blood glucose level goes down as your cells can use the glucose more effectively.

Work/Life balance

Managing work and life together can be an arduous task at times. But managing work-life balance with diabetes requires well thought-out planning and more importantly, patience. It’s a fact that most of our days are filled with deadlines, tasks and countless emails. With diabetes, it becomes even more important to make health a priority, as much as your work is. If you don’t manage your food intake, work and stress, you can feel the world slipping right out of your hands.

Weight Loss

Excess weight puts a strain on your body. It can lead to a higher risk of high blood pressure and diabetes. Through a combination of exercise and watching what you eat you can control your type 2 Diabetes and even reverse it over a period of time. 

Nutrition

A balanced diet with healthy fats, fiber and protein are crucial in preventing and reversing type 2 diabetes. A nutrition plan that incorporates vegetables, greens, includes quality proteins such as beans, nuts, and seeds, plant-based fats such as olive oil or avocado and contains whole grains such as brown rice and quinoa rather than refined carbohydrates such as sweets, processed and packaged foods.
